LOS ANGELES, Calif. (CBSLA) – After the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention classed it as having “low” COVID-19 activity on Thursday, Los Angeles County officially dropped its indoor mask-wearing restriction for both vaccinated and unvaccinated residents on Friday.

Masking will no longer be needed in most indoor public venues, including restaurants, movie theaters, gyms, retail establishments, and nail salons, regardless of immunization status. Customers will no longer be required to provide evidence of immunization. At 12:01 a.m., the L.A. County Department of Public Health removed the order.

On Feb. 25, nine days later, L.A. County eased its own limitations, but only for individuals who are completely vaccinated.
Meanwhile, a city of Los Angeles rule requiring anyone over the age of 12 to provide evidence of vaccination before entering indoor restaurants, gyms, entertainment and recreational facilities, and personal care enterprises remains in force. It’s uncertain if the city of Los Angeles will relax the rules. According to the office of Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez, the other is working with county public health experts and city agencies to “think out next actions.”
