Arsene Wenger has been criticised for the team’s lack of success in recent years. With a defeat to West Ham and two home defeats, Arsenal are now struggling in the league. The Gunners need Aubameyano make changes if they’re going to return to challenging Man City on all fronts.

Mikel Arteta should not put Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back into the starting XI for Arsenal’s Premier League match against West Ham on Wednesday, according to Paul Merson.
Mikel Arteta said before the game that Aubameyang’s withdrawal was due to disciplinary grounds, as he was left out of Arsenal’s 3-0 triumph against Southampton on Saturday.
The Gabonese international was recently granted permission by the club to go to France to see his mother and bring her back to London with him.
He was supposed to return on Wednesday in order to be ready for training, but he remained an additional night and flew back to the UK on Thursday morning instead.
After the Saints’ victory, Arteta suggested that Aubameyang, his club captain, may return for Wednesday’s critical encounter against the Hammers – but Merson believes the Spanish manager should not replace a winning team.
‘It’s commendable of the manager, but I’m not convinced he’ll play against West Ham on Wednesday,’ he told Sky Sports.

‘I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Fair credit to Arteta for what he’s done and how he’s managed it so far, but why put him back in after they comfortably won the game?
‘Arsenal has a lot of young players. They have a youthful team. He’s the captain, he’s paid well, and he has a responsibility to lead by example. This has occurred much too often. How many times have you seen Arsenal play brilliantly while Aubameyang struggles?
‘He is the one who sets the tone.’ They had a good game against Newcastle a few weeks back, and he began it all. They are following him since he worked his socks off.
‘He has to set a better example off the field, and Arteta deserves credit.’ It takes a lot of courage to accomplish something like this, particularly when you’re on the run and things aren’t going your way.
‘It’s one thing when you’re winning nine or ten games in a row and you can make these types of judgments a little easier, but when you’re trying to achieve a result, fair play to him.’
‘After the Southampton victory, I don’t see how you can alter the team.’ They thrashed Southampton with some excellent goals, so I’d stick with the same lineup, with Aubameyang maybe returning to the bench.
‘However, something similar occurred against Everton, when he began on the bench and didn’t play until the 85th minute.’ Eddie Nketiah was even the first to board.

‘At the end of the day, he’s gotten his due.’ He was late, he was dropped, and they still won.
‘For this game, I’m confident he’ll be a sub.’ The boss did the right thing, but don’t go about cutting off your nose to spite your face now.
‘For me, he’ll be back in the team and that’ll be it, but he’ll have to be cautious.’ Arsenal supporters will begin to lose tolerance with him.
Meanwhile, the Arsenal veteran has demanded that Aubameyang be stripped of his club captaincy as a result of his actions.
‘Somebody else needs to be Arsenal’s captain,’ he continued.

‘If I’m being honest, I didn’t really understand it in the first place.’ However, it does demonstrate that he leads by example and that the younger generation looks up to him. He was promoted to captain as a result of this.
‘Of course, if you’re the boss, you’d be dissatisfied. Arsenal Football Club has named him captain. It’s a significant event, not a little occurrence. He also has to set an example for the club’s bright young players.’
