Morgan Steven’s, the actor best known for playing Melrose Place and One Day at a Time died on Thursday. He was 70 years old.
Morgan Stevens, the actor who played the role of Jack Abbott on “Melrose Place” and later became a regular on “One Day at a Time”, died on Monday evening. He was 70 years old.
Morgan Stevens, who starred in Melrose Place and One Day At A Time, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 70. According to TMZ, when one of Stevens’ neighbors hadn’t seen or heard from him for many days, they phoned the cops to inquire about him. When police arrived to Stevens’ house, they discovered his corpse in the kitchen. There is no foul play suspected, and the cause of death is likely to be natural. At this point, no members of Stevens’ family have made any public statements about his death.
Stevens’ first acting job was in the musical series Fame, where he played David Reardon, a New York high school teacher, from 1982 to 1984. He appears in seven episodes of Melrose Place as Nick Diamond, a recurrent character from Season 4. Nick Diamond was Jack Parezi’s, Bobby Parezi’s, and Vince Parezi’s family attorney. Stevens also appeared in One Day at a Time, Murder, She Wrote, The Waltons, and Walker, Texas Ranger, among other films.
In an interview with Fame Forever, Stevens spoke about how he got the part of Fame’s David Reardon. He’d just finished shooting the Bare Essence miniseries and was about to go out to celebrate when he received the news that he’d been cast in the blockbuster show.
“Needless to say, it was a really nice celebration after hearing such news!” According to Stevens. “I was incredibly excited about this job on Fame, but it felt like the show and I were missing one other for a long. I was in Next York with Bare Essence when Fame was having auditions for the new season here, and when I returned to shoot, Fame was shooting in New York!”
He said, ” “Finally, during my lunch break, I went down to MGM from where Bare Essence was filming in Beverly Hills, since both shows were shooting in the same city at the same time. During another lunch break, I headed over to the NBC network facilities in Burbank for a brief screen-test. Then I went three weeks without hearing anything and was ready to give up hope that they’d cast someone else when the phone call came as I was heading out the door, despondent at the end of Bare Essence and wondering what I’d do next.”
David Reardon’s persona was also shaped by the actor’s collaboration with Fame’s screenplay writers and producer.
“I informed the producers and story editor that there were two elements about his personality that I really wanted to show,” he stated. “I wanted him to be enthusiastic about his acting and caring about his pupils. We determined that he is not only new to this institution, but also to teaching. He’s an actor who relocated to New York from Muncie, Indiana, to pursue his dream of becoming a teacher. At least at start, he’s teaching strictly for financial gain. His acting career isn’t going well, and he really needs the money since he’s divorced, has a child, and must pay alimony and child support on top of his own expenditures.”
He went on to say: “And, as we’ll see, he’ll need a stable job with a regular income since he’ll be attempting to regain custody of his kid. His ex-wife is going to relocate to another state, and he is concerned that he may lose contact with his child.”
Stevens said, “It doesn’t mirror my own background.” “I’m not married, divorced, or have children. However, I want to get married and have children in two of the three scenarios.”
