Liv Morgan, WWE’s newest Superstar and the first woman to win a WWE Women’s Championship, talks about her career and what she has planned for Extreme Rules.
Liv Morgan will be in the limelight at this weekend’s Extreme Rules when she faces Carmella in a singles bout, but she must first take care of business against Zelina Vega on tonight’s SmackDown. Morgan has matured as a singles wrestler, and her match at Extreme Rules is a significant step forward in her WWE career. Morgan spoke to us about her forthcoming fight, including whether or not a condition would be included, why she wants to compete in a Street Fight, that incredible moment at Money in the Bank, and even some gaming with Marvel’s Spider-Man and, yes, Def Jam Vendetta. To begin, we wanted to know whether defeating Vega and Carmella would properly shut the chapter on those two characters, who have been a thorn in her side for the last year.
“I really hope so. Yeah, we’ve been feuding since Money in the Bank, and I figured we should all earn our chances now that they’re both in the contest. You know what I mean? Understandably so, since I was attempting to help them. I wasn’t trying to deny them chances; rather, I believed they should earn them “Morgan remarked. “So I completely understand why they’re upset with me, but I’m hoping it’ll be over by the weekend because I’m sick of Zelina putting her nose where it doesn’t belong. She continues intruding herself into, what seems to be, everything I do, which is very irritating. Carmella, either shut up or appreciate yourself on your abilities. I’m starting to feel sorry for her. She has a slew of awards, yet all she talks about is how stunning she is. You know what I mean? I’m almost sorry for myself. I simply want to show her that she is so much more than just attractive. She misinterpreted it for some reason.”
At Extreme Rules, there are some huge bouts, and Morgan is in some great company, which means a lot, particularly because this is Morgan’s second singles battle on a WWE pay-per-view.
“It’s fantastic. This is my second Pay-Per-View singles match. My first was a WrestleMania pre-show match against Natalia. It’s funny because I never saw myself as a tag team wrestler when I first entered the WWE, but that’s exactly what I’ve done for the bulk of my career. I fell in love with it, but now I feel like I’m being given a second opportunity. So I’m thrilled to be working with Carmela at Extreme Rules. Extreme Rules is also one of my all-time favorite pay-per-views. The extremes and tables, the ladders and chairs, and the stipulation bouts are what drew me to WWE as a child. So putting myself in one of those situations is certainly a goal and a dream of mine, and I’m really looking forward to that.”
The contest currently lacks a stipulation, although Morgan hinted that this may change by the conclusion of tonight. “Not yet, but there’s still Friday, and you never know what will happen in the WWE. Everything has the potential to change. You never know what could happen. I’m hoping we can add a little requirement simply to raise the ante and so I can get that, you know, sensation, that adrenaline rush. I want firearms to be used. I’d want to see the stakes raised. I’d want to add a layer of danger and suspense to the story, and I’d like to bash Mella’s butt “Morgan remarked.
Morgan’s bucket list for the future still includes several major stipulation bouts. In fact, she aspires to be in each and every one.
“Oh, my goodness. I have a ton, a ton, a ton, a ton, a ton, I’d want to participate in a Steel Cage Match. I’d like to compete in a Ladder Match. I mean, I was in a Ladder Match, but I’d like to be in a more regulated setting. There were a lot of ladies in Money in the Bank, and there were a lot of reasons. In a more controlled environment, I’d want to see what I’m capable of. Did I mention it was a TLC match? I want to be really honest about everything. When I tell you, my eyes were like this huge back in the day, or in the 2000s, when I was watching TLC bouts, like whoa, I want to do that. I still want to do it, so I’m hopeful I’ll be able to.”
Oh, then throw in a Street Fight, and she’s already seeing it in her head. “Oh my goodness, a street brawl. I’d want to engage in a street brawl. I want to wear jeans to a street fight. That seems to be what you do. You fight while wearing your merch shirt and pants “Morgan remarked. I suggested fighting with meal cards and utilizing concession booths as weapons as must-haves. “Fire extinguishers, food carts, and tossing through doors are all things that come to mind. I’d want everything, “Morgan said.
Fans may also look forward to some unique clothing for the big event. “Have you been paying attention to me? Almost every week, I get new equipment. I’m completely committed; I’ve written something for Extreme Rules. I’ve got something fantastic for you. It isn’t themed in any way, but it is a great piece of extreme gear “Morgan said.
We also had to discuss the emotional speech she gave at Money in the Bank, which garnered a sea of applause from the audience. “That was an amazing sensation, an incredible moment, I know. It was an unexpected turn of events. It was so moving that it moved me to tears. I was moved to tears by it. I am really grateful for their help “Morgan said.
Morgan values her fans’ support and is grateful for how they’ve supported her throughout her often unexpected and surprising journey.
“I feel like, you know, fortunately, it seems to get better with time, so thank you. I’ve always felt, and I’m not sure why, but I’ve always felt that I’ve had a really solid core of a fan following that supports me no matter what, whether I’m protesting at a wedding or not on TV for weeks on end. They’re like a life or death situation for me, therefore I’m thankful for them and welcome all fans, old and new. Regardless, I adore them all “Morgan said. “I consider myself fortunate to have their backing. Not everyone in the WWE Universe understands, therefore I’m glad and appreciative. I’m hoping to offer them plenty of reasons to support me throughout my career.”
They also have her back at all times, particularly if she’s taken off SmackDown for any reason, and you’ll find out about it quickly on social media.
“It will be brought to your attention. I like it because I don’t have to say anything if I want to complain or say anything because I know they’ll handle it for me “Morgan said.
Morgan thinks that they do a fantastic job of tagging the appropriate individuals to get the word out. “We’re going to tag Vince McMahon, we’re going to tag Stepanie, Adam Pearce, but where is our girl? You know what I mean?”
Morgan enjoys diving into video games when she isn’t in the ring or practicing, and she has the unique ability to concentrate on one and play it through from beginning to finish before moving on to the next. It’s a talent I wish I had, and she recently used it on Marvel’s Spider-Man…though it wasn’t the Spider-Man she expected.
“You know, when I game, I try to do it in a way that… It’s similar to when I’m reading a book. I have to read a book all day if I want to finish it. Yes, I like reading all day and then taking a break. So I’m the same way when I play video games. I have to finish the game as quickly as possible, almost compulsively, and then I’ll take a break. I’m now playing Spiderman. I assumed I was playing the new Spiderman, but it turns out I’m playing the original Spiderman “Morgan said.
Morgan went in with the intention of portraying Miles Morales, but ended up playing Marvel’s Spider-Man instead. The good news is that both characters are fantastic, so it’s a win-win situation. However, it was the mention of Def Jam Vendetta that really grabbed my attention.
“I mistook myself for Miles Morales, but I’m not. I downloaded it with the intention of playing something new, but all I’m doing is playing something old, which I’m loving. What else did I devote a significant amount of time to this year? In around 29 hours, I beat Def Jam Vendetta. It’s a classic. Iconic, iconic, iconic, iconic, iconic, iconic, iconic, iconic, iconic They need to update the list to include more contemporary rappers. You know what I mean? That sounds fantastic to me. Who should we contact in order to create a new Def Jam Vendetta?”
Seriously, we need to know as soon as possible since a new Def Jam game would be amazing. That isn’t the only game that she is excited about; WB’s forthcoming Harry Potter game is also one of her favorites. “Oh, my goodness. That’s something I’ve been looking for. I’ve always wanted to play Harry Potter. That excites me tremendously. I can’t wait for it to be out because I’m going to pull an all-nighter and beat it “Morgan said.
We’ll have to wait a little longer to play the new Harry Potter game and a new Def Jam, but you can see Morgan in action on tonight’s SmackDown on FOX at 8 p.m. EST, and then again on Peacock Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on Extreme Rules.
